I have installed Joomla 1.0.1.5. and the SEO module sh404. Now my urls all read www.example.com/index.php/about. This index.php is always there  Huh Any way to get rid of it?

You have to change to using an htaccess file.

Right now sh404 is on, and running in default mode. It reworks the URLs entirely within the CMS, which is good of course, but the drawback is that there is an /index.php/ in the middle of the SEF URL. To get rid of it you must change the sh404 configs to *with htaccess*. You must also change the htaccess file from its standard, core SEF configuration to the 3PD configuration. Comment-out the core SEF lines and uncomment the 3PD lines.

Then you can have full SEF URLs of any shape or form you like.
